Christmas in July - Day 25

Today I'm showing how you can turn an orphan block into a gift. I took this cute quilt block with the chicken print in the middle, added a border to make it 8 1/2". Instead of doing binding I just sandwiched my backing fabric, insul-brite and quilt block and stitched together. Turned and stitched the opening and my pot holder is complete. This can also be used as a trivet if desired.

I think it would be very cute to have a chicken theme going on for the gift. Maybe a black with white dots bowl, a cute little chicken item like measuring spoons or something. If you need a gift in a hurry this pot holder can be done very quickly.

Thanks again for visiting me everyday.

great use of the block. I don't know what insul-brite is. Is it a heat resistant batting? Would I find it at Joann's in the fusible's or batting section? This is such a great idea I want to try it. Thanks
