A few days ago I was surfing the blogs when I saw a fun post from Little Lady Patchwork for quilting the blocks first then layering with the backing and doing stitch-in-the-ditch quilting along the rows and columns. So, I thought I would give it a try. A couple weeks ago my Sister and I did another Virtual Sewing Day with the Layer Cake pattern by Thimbleblossoms called Piece of Cake III. I did mine with a Layer Cake of Nature's Basket. This is my first block of quilting as you go, I just did wavy lines. I bought some brown Minke for the backing. When I get it done I'll let you know.
Go here to check out Little Lady Patchwork's blog for her Pros and Cons of this method of quilting. She gives a link to Maureen Cracknell Handmade's blog where she discovered this tutorial.
Have a nice Labor Day weekend.
